Friday, August 25, 2017
- 3:00 PM
Join Autism New Jersey and the Family Support Organization of Middlesex County on Friday, August 25th 2017, from 10am-3pm for a FREE workshop! Topics include:
- School Discipline: 10am-12pm
- School discipline is often misunderstood. Discipline of students with disabilities is governed by general education laws and the additional requirements of the federal and state special education laws. This presentation will review the laws that apply and protection that should be in place for students with disabilities.
- Understanding and Improving Challenging Behavior: 1pm-3pm
- Understanding why a challenging behavior is occurring is crucial to developing a plan to address it. Participants will learn about identifying common function of challenging behaviors, implementing strategies for preventing and changing behaviors, and monitoring progress. Learn a 7-step plan involving proactive steps that can be taken to teach more appropriate behaviors and significantly improve quality of life.
Workshop is FREE, but registration is required by contacting Anarai Meza at 732-287-8701, ext. 200 by August 18th.
