ASPEN OFFICIALLY CLOSED 12-31-23

After the pandemic, ASPEN was no longer able to sustain itself financially, and our Board made the difficult but necessary decision to close the organization on December 31, 2023. A great big thank you goes out to everyone who has ever been part of ASPEN, including members and our amazing chapter coordinators, group leaders, and board members.

I will remain available as a resource for those looking for information via my email address [email protected]m. (Lori S. Shery, Founder/(Former) President/(Former) Executive Director)

The following Chapter Coordinators/Board members are still available as resources for you:

asperger/Autism SPectrum Education Network

ASPEN (Autism Spectrum Education Network) provides families and individuals whose lives are affected by Autism Spectrum Disorders (Asperger Syndrome, Pervasive Developmental Disorder-NOS, High Functioning Autism), and Nonverbal Learning Disabilities with:

  • Education about the issues surrounding the disorders.
  • Support in knowing that they are not alone, and in helping individuals with ASD and NLD achieve their maximum potential.
  • Advocacy in areas of appropriate educational programs, medical research funding, adult issues, and increased public awareness and understanding.

ASPEN is a national volunteer 501(c)3 non-profit organization with headquarters in New Jersey. Our chapters meet monthly, alternating parent support meetings with speaker presentations. Professionals are invited to join us at meetings where speakers are scheduled, and Professional Development Hours are provided to those who attend. In addition, we have a father's support group, and sponsor social groups for tweens, teens, and adults. ASPEN  provides staff development and in-service training and hosts 2 national conferences each year featuring some of the most prominent names in the research community.

Membership includes a newsletter, resource directory, and access to our lending libraries plus free attendance at chapter meetings and discounts on our conferences.
