Camp AmeriKids

Each year, The ELM Project welcomes over 250 Tri-State area children living with the challenges of HIV/AIDS and sickle cell disease to our summer program, Camp AmeriKids. Campers ages 8-16 enjoy a one-week residential summer camp at a beautiful site in Monticello, NY. Our program is free of charge and transportation is provided to our site.

Camp Benefits
Camp AmeriKids provides comprehensive and unobtrusive medical care within a camp environment. The camp infirmary is overseen by at least two physicians and over ten nurses/nurse practitioners who all reside on the grounds while the camp is in session. Each camper’s medical history is evaluated prior to arrival at camp, ensuring that medications are administered on schedule and that all necessary medical precautions are taken during the session.

Additionally, a Wellness Team overseen by a mental health professional is on-site at all times. This psycho-social component of our program matches one child specialist with each age group to assist counselors and staff members in managing any challenges associated with living in a new environment.
